Sr. Software Developer/Team Lead
Description:
The EPIC platform is a leading educational platform providing English reading, writing and composition instruction and assessment the to higher education market. As a Senior Software Developer, this person will provide leadership on all facets of the development lifecycle.
You will act as day-to-day technical lead, leading and mentoring a team of developers. You will interact with business stakeholders to help scope requirements as well as other IT-related issues and provide answers in a timely manner. You will manage and facilitate team meetings effectively and hold regular status meetings with team. This position is very hands on--you will also contribute to the development effort.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
'Gather, document and communicate requirements and solution
'Lead architecture, design and implementation of projects
'Ensure the quality of applications through formal testing and documentation
'Maintain the integrity of application source code and underlying data through the use of version control systems
'Orchestrate efforts of internal and extended technical team by delegating tasks and monitoring progress
'Consult with internal technical teams and third-party vendors
'Coach and mentor, including code reviews, mock projects, and tutelage
'Facilitate exchange of ideas between developers
'Provide technical guidance to contract developers
REQUIREMENTS:
'BA/BS preferred, Masters degree in computer science helpful
'5+ years practical experience as a technical-lead/team-lead
'Firm grasp of object and aspect-oriented design and programming practices and patterns
'Understanding of enterprise level project architecture, the development lifecycle, and post production support
'Experience modeling data for RDBMS, familiar with common vendors database administration tools, understanding vendor specific database implementations
'Solid optimization and debugging techniques
'Experience in managing development and production environment including database and application servers, configuring and tuning load balancing, clustering, and monitoring
'Superior analytical and communication skills
'Specific experience requirements: Java/J2EE, JSP, Servlets, Spring, Hibernate, Struts, Oracle db, Apache, XML/XSLT, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, SOAP or REST-based Web Services, IP Protocols
Position may be filled in either Boston, MA or Piscataway, NJ.
