Application Architect
Responsibilities:
The Application Architect plays an
important role in the R&D organization. The Application Architect
reports directly to the Chief Application Architect and works with
people that belong in various departments across the organization. The
Application Architect is responsible for designing, implementing,
maintaining, and supporting all tiers of the application, including
persistence, business logic and user interface. This is a hands-on role -
it is not a “power point” architect position.
Part of the Application Architect’s
responsibility includes the following:
- Design, improve, maintain, and support the development
of Java based enterprise applications using Open Source technologies.
- Develop documents, diagrams and prototypes to
conceptualize and communicate design strategies
- Define patterns and advocate for consistency across
the suite of applications
- Provide mentorship, coordination, and guidance for
designers and developers
Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of and extensive programming
experience in Java; additional programming skills are an advantage
- Excellent knowledge of Java and JEE related technology
including but not limited to Spring, JBoss, and various Apache
frameworks.
- Experience designing logical and efficient relational
data models and implementing data access abstractions.
- Extensive experience designing high performance, high
availability applications and trouble-shooting performance issues.
- Proficiency in JavaScript and modern, Open Source, UI
frameworks will be considered as a strong advantage.
- More than 7 years of experience working in the
industry, or academia, on related topics
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
Experience with a global team is a huge
plus.
