This position will be responsible for the following: web applications development, maintenance and support; participate in production deployment and peer code reviews; and follow coding standards. The Developer will learn the dotCMS content management system and will work with web production staff to meet business and editorial priorities. S/he will also work with Datacenter team to deploy applications, fix reported bugs and keep up with the bug tracking system. Work independently on small projects as well as part of a team on large scale projects. The Developer will meet with clients to gather and document functional specifications and create technical documents and end-user guide documents. Will keep current with tools and technologies of open source software development and database architecture and work closely with the technical team.
The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in Object-Oriented Design and have a solid understanding of three-tier web development architecture. Solid knowledge of Enterprise Java (JSP, Servlets, EJB, JMS, JDBC, JMX) and Web Technologies (AJAX, XML, CSS) are a plus. Knowledge of all phases of application development lifecycle; experience with Application Servers and Web Servers (JBOSS & Apache) are preferred as well as knowledge of RDBMS (MS SQL2005 and up).
Work experience with one or more java frameworks such as Spring, Struts or JSF & Hibernate is preferred along with a good understanding of MVC Architecture. Candidates with exposure to web services, SOAP and HTTP protocols, mobile computing, and experience with one or more content management systems (dotCMS) are preferred. Knowledge and understanding of apache velocity, flash development, user interface design principles and usability methodologies are ideal skills for this position. The ideal candidate will have some experience integrating 3rd party tools into the web framework and experience with search engine optimization. Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to take appropriate initiative are preferred. BS in computer science, engineering or equivalent. 4+ years of web application development experience including 3 years work experience with Java Enterprise.
